Photograph the wood shed before moving boards or peeling back roofing. The first review should show how the structure is built, what is attached and how the material will leave the yard.
Show the four sides and roof
Take one wide photo of each wall, then photograph the roof from a safe ground position. Note asphalt shingles, metal sheets, tar paper or a second visible roof layer. Do not climb onto a weak or leaking shed for a better angle.
Show the floor and base
Open the door and photograph the floor near each wall. Outside, show where the sill meets a slab, pier blocks, skids or soil. Rot at the bottom edge may change where dismantling can start.
List what stays
- Doors, windows or hardware requested for salvage
- Nearby fencing, planting and finished surfaces
- The slab, blocks or anchors beneath the shed
- Stored items that are not part of the removal
Measure the path out
Record the narrowest gate, stairs, slope and approximate carry distance. Long boards can require more space than the shed doorway suggests.
