A cleanout should make the demolition scope visible. It should also keep valuables and restricted material out of the hauling pile.
Make three clear groups
| Group | What belongs there |
|---|---|
| Keep | Tools, records, reusable equipment and personal items |
| Remove | Approved shelving, household clutter and ordinary shed contents |
| Flag | Fuel, chemicals, batteries, pesticides and unknown containers |
Do not hide the floor
Leave a clear strip near the walls when practical so photos can show rot, anchors and the base. Do not walk on a soft floor simply to clear it.
Photograph heavy items
Show lawn equipment, large tool cabinets and fixed shelving. State whether each item stays, leaves or needs separate review.
Confirm the combined scope
A cleanout can be booked without demolition, and a demolition estimate may assume the shed is empty. Put both tasks in writing when the contents and structure should leave together.
